Vice President, Editorial Director of Science

Joe Berman joined Brown in November 2007, bringing his passion for science and science education to his position as Editorial Director of Science. He has over fifteen years of experience in developing science textbooks, supplemental materials, and technology products.

Joe began his publishing career as a science editor for Prentice Hall School Division, editing chemistry and biology high school textbooks. Since then, he has helped develop science programs for many grade levels in his roles as Executive Editor at Macmillan/McGraw-Hill, Executive Editor at Houghton Mifflin, and, most recently, as Publisher for Newbridge Educational Publishing.

Joe received a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Stanford University and a bachelor's degree in biochemistry from the University of Minnesota. He also earned a master's degree equivalent from the University of Kansas School of Medicine.
