Elinor Y. Chamas Vice President, Editorial Director of Reading, Language Arts, ESL A lifelong commitment to education, language-learning, and multicultural issues began to crystallize for Ellie Chamas during her four years of teaching in the Peace Corps. Throughout her career, she has brought that unique perspective to her role as editor, writer, and project manager of educational materials. Ellie worked for Boston Educational Research Company in the 1970s on the development of Pleasant Rowlands Addison-Wesley Reading Program, and later, on French and Spanish college-level texts for Heinle & Heinle Publishers. In 1986, she was recruited by Addison-Wesley Publishing Company to manage the editorial development and production of Addison-Wesley ESL, an innovative and ultimately best-selling elementary ESL program. As Executive Editor of Addison-Wesleys World Language Division, Ellie focused her energy on managing the development of innovative ESL/EFL materials for the K12, college, and adult education markets. Since joining Brown in 1996, Ellie has managed projects in the disciplines of reading, language arts, phonics, spelling, and social studies, and has helped to establish Brown Publishing Network as a leader in ESL/EFL products and services. |
